Best ever homemade hummus recipe to make at home. This is better than store-bought hummus and it’s silky and packed with huge flavors. To spice things up, you can even add red pepper flakes, roasted garlic, or bell pepper.




  1. Place the canned chickpeas in a strainer to drain the liquid. Then, rinse the chickpeas under running warm water for 30 seconds. Skip this step if using cooked chickpeas.
  2. In a food processor or blender, place the chickpeas, garlic cloves, lemon juice, olive oil, tahini, salt, and cumin. 
  3. Blend for approximately 5 minutes, until well combined and smooth. You may need to scrape the sides of the food processor halfway through blending to make sure the hummus is mixed evenly. If too thick, add a tablespoon of cold water and blend. Repeat this step if necessary.
  4. Once finished, place the hummus in a bowl and add garnish. I like to add a drizzle of olive oil (about 2 teaspoons), paprika, and fresh parsley for a pop of color.
